One of my role models is Jesus, and probably Andrew Tate.

Season 1 Overview[]
Jonathan Curtis, shortened to 'Jon', made his debut on Fishtank during Season 1 as one of the eight main contestants on the show.
| This individual is a true jack-of-all-trades. Between working in commercial lending, running a small electric bicycle business, opening a restaurant, and modeling, he's always on the go and always giving 100%. Although he may have a speech impediment, it is often mistaken for a European accent, adding to his unique and charismatic presence. Prior to his diverse career path, Jonathan was a wildland firefighter, honing his skills in isolation and adventure. He isn't afraid of anything and embraces new opportunities and risks with open arms. Jonathan's adventurous spirit and love for learning have helped him thrive in various fields, and he is always on the lookout for the next challenge to tackle. With his drive and passion, there's no doubt that he will continue to make waves in whatever he does next. |
Upon entering the tank, Jon would immediately start chatting with what was previously a pretty quiet cast. He explained that his interests include fitness, finance, outdoor-adventuring and his faith as a devout Christian. He claims to operate several self-start business ventures, namely his electric bicycle brand str33ts that he promotes heavily on his social media accounts. Although his claims regarding the success of these businesses and the extent of his involvement are dubious.
He is confirmed to have an active modeling career. Jon has also served as a volunteer firefighter, notably during the 2018 California Wildfires. He has a passionate admiration for the Tate Brothers, a pair of controversial entrepreneurs, self-help gurus and internet personalities who he referenced frequently in the earlier days of season one. Jon claims he was diagnosed with autism and has a prominent speech impediment, having difficulty pronouncing 'l' and 'r' sounds. He claims he has been in speech therapy for the majority of his life and could not be understood until the age of 12.
Jon's experience in the tank was rocky, initially earning resentment from viewers and the other fish by informing production staff of Damiel's contraband cell phone, spoiling aspects of the show after reading Twitter discussions during the tank's swatting and unprompted long-winded storytelling among other antics. Jon engaged in heated arguments with several of the other fish, potentially leading to Damiel's premature removal from the tank. However, the other fish warmed up to Jon as the days progressed with each fish personally resolving their issues with him. Audience reception also improved dramatically as the show progressed, often referring to his antics as "Jontent". He appeared to be deeply affected by the removal of Simmons, who had been closest to Jon at that point, and allegedly considered leaving the tank after the events. It is implied that staff managed to convince him to continue on the condition that downstairs cameras and TTS messages were to be disabled for the remainder of the night. Jon was eliminated from the tank on day 16 after refusing to participate in the Be Grateful For Your Disability challenge and barricading himself in his bedroom.
He briefly returned as a freeloader and targeted Letty. In retaliation, Letty destroyed Jon's custom Bible that was gifted to him by a fan by running it in the washing machine. When Jon discovered this, he had a meltdown and decided to destroy Letty's belongings. He grabbed her Canadian passport and a tense chase ended with a standoff with Sam and Vance in the garage. The passport was retrieved undamaged and Jon was removed from the tank for the second and final time.
Other Appearances[]
- Bloodgames - Jon returned for Bloodgames in 2024. He didn't take the roleplaying game seriously and repeatedly shit-tested his team and production. It was his first time meeting anyone who appeared on season 2, most notably his new teammates Jimmy and Tayleigh. Despite the difficulty working with him on the show, Jon was able to repair his relationship with Letty and lasted through 70 percent of the season. He left the competition on day 10 because he felt the production was mocking him and ruining his image.
Outside of Fishtank[]
- Jon hosted a podcast called The Joncast for a short time on his YouTube channel Jontent, which included other Fishtank-adjacent videos and clips. The Joncast featured Fishtank people like Vance and Sam Hyde, as well as other unrelated guests.
- Following season one he attacked Letty repeatedly on X and severed their relationship until Bloodgames in the summer of 2024. In August 2024 Jon and Letty were 2 of 50 contestants on Ice Poseidon's Hunger Games, a livestreamed outdoor survival competition similar to Bloodgames.
- In 2024 he campaigned for a position on city council in Bend, Oregon and he lost to Megan Norris. He received 26.38% of the vote.
- In February 2025, Jon would run a show on his Kick channel called American Dude Lodge (ADL), which would be in a format similar to Fishtank and would run for 25 days. He plans on hosting ADL 2 on his Kick channel in January 2026.
Trivia[]
- Jon's Season 1 audition tape was posted by Chris Lynch on his X account in October 2025.
- The term "JJJJJJJJ" which is commonly used by viewers of the live show to this day via TTS Messages, is a reference to Jon. During Season 1, when everyone was undergoing The Cell challenge, viewers would send TTS messages to Jon with as many repeated J's as possible in in order to annoy him as the TTS message would go on for a long time. The J's are a reference to his nickname "Top J" which is taken from Andrew Tate's nickname "Top G".
- Ever since his appearance on Season 1, Jon would fall in and out of good relations with Fishtank production. After Season 1, Jon would be friendly with Jet and production for a few months, however would then publicly condemn Fishtank, Sam Hyde, and what the show had evolved into but remained a member of the community. He would patch up his relationship before the start of Bloodgames and be a main contestant on that show, though would leave Bloodgames on day 10 after a disagreement with production about his characterization. In early 2025, Jon seemingly took issue with not being able to stream his show, American Dude Lodge, directly on the Fishtank website. After Season 4 concluded, he would then spend a lot of time on social media talking about production again, ultimately claiming that they still owed him money from Bloodgames, among other things.
