Season 2 of Fishtank was livestreamed online in real-time from December 18, 2023 to January 28, 2024. An episodic version was released weekly on YouTube and the official website starting October 13, 2024; it took a hiatus during the run of season 3 and the remaining episodes are currently being released, as of January 2025.
It concluded with TJ being declared the winner after defeating Shinji in the Swamp Olympics and a boxing match. It was followed by Vampire Bloodgames in summer 2024 and Season 3 in October 2024.
The House and Theme[]
Season 2 had a 1970s cult theme. The contestants were not allowed to wear their own clothes and were instead provided time appropriate clothing, they were allowed to smoke indoors, and the pre-existing rule banning technology aligned perfectly. It was said to be the "first" Fishtank competition occurring in the year 1972 and hosted by Judge Jedediah Goldstriker- a distant relative of Jason Goldstriker. Many gaslights and events of the season closely mirrored the actions of the Synanon cult. The attic was painted with a large symbol in the floor and used as a one-on-one gaslight room where the Judge brought certain fish for a chance to join "The Initiation Group". Production members sometimes wore labcoats adorned with same symbol and group name.
The house was already era-appropriate in its structure and was made to match the theme with kitschy artwork and wallpaper, carpeted floors, and colorful hippy-esque decor. Initially there 11 cameras covering the main rooms: the three bedrooms, the bunk, the kitchen, the bar, the dog house, the lounge, the upstairs and downstairs hallways, and the attic. Later in the season two bathroom cameras were unlocked although with large censors to block nudity.
The house was situated in a suburban neighborhood which caused some trouble with the municipality due to complaints from other residents. Though they were ultimately unsuccessful with disrupting the show, all future productions were moved to a more remote property following this season.

Eliminated Players Returning to the Game[]
Fishtank 2 was the first season in which multiple contestants returned after having been eliminated from the game in a non-conventional way. Jimmy was the first player to return after being ejected for physically assaulting Britney, but as a freeloader ineligible for the grand prize. He was eliminated the same day after losing a boxing match to TJ.
TJ was ostensibly medically evacuated due to an injury on January 22 sustained from his boxing match with Jimmy. In a fakeout announcement, he was set on the fishtank.live website as having been eliminated. Later in the day he returned, after being cleared by medical.
Controversies[]
- An African-American contestant named Frank who was announced as part of the cast was removed from the line-up 24 hours before entering the Fishtank house. He was replaced with Brian.
- Nearly half of the cast quit or were expelled less only 10 days into the show.
- A false-positive HIV test was shown live, belonging to Shinji. This would later be revealed as a bit.
- Trisha nearly had a mental breakdown due to Goldstriker cutting locks of her hair off without warning.
- Jimmy physically assaulted and threatened several women in the Fishtank house, leading some fans to wonder what the tolerance policy was. This would come to a head when Jimmy would throw a hammer at new freeloader Britney and hit her in the head. Jet would later bring Jimmy back into the game days later as a freeloader, with security present. Jimmy was eliminated that same day.
- Tayleigh punched Trisha in the face and received no punishment.
- Convicted murderer and self-admitted rapist Charleston White visited the house.
- Former Season 1 contestant Jonathan posted criticism of Fishtank Season 2, Sam Hyde, and Jet Neptune due to the new season being more focused on torturing the contestants and making them suffer.
- Summer, who was expelled early in the season, claimed she was assaulted and harassed by Sam Hyde. The police were called on Summer shortly after being removed from the house for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman working on the production. She also hypothesized that both Butler Hospital and Kent Hospital, which she was admitted to after the show, were working in tandem with Sam Hyde.
Season Pass[]
Additionally, Season 2 was the first season with the Clans feature, allowing groups of users to have their own private chatrooms and target other clans.
Trivia[]
- This season has the most contestants who were ejected or quit, with five. Compared to the previous season, which only had three contestants who were either ejected or quit, Season 2 did not feature a standard elimination until Brian was eliminated via audience vote, in 6th place.
- Jimmy is the first player to return to the house after specifically being ejected. Jimmy returned on Day 25 and was subsequently eliminated the same day he returned after quitting a boxing match against TJ, thus being disqualified.
- After Cole left the house on Day 10, host Goldstriker claimed that an unspecified amount of the contestants were actually just paid actors who were not actually eligible for the grand prize. Whether or not this is actually true, or if it was just a bit to cause paranoia in the contestants, is unknown.
- Tai was the first freeloader and contestant to return for a second season. This would be followed by Frank Hassle, Chris, and Alex Stein who all returned for a second season as well.
- Jimmy revealed during his brief return to the house on January 11 that Jet Neptune told him that more than 3/4 of the paying audience dropped off following his ejection. Jet Neptune later said to the fish that he told Jimmy that for the sake of "morale."
- TJ allegedly suffered an injury from Goldstriker kneeing him in the ribs during the boxing match with Jimmy. There was a brief fake-out in which he was said to be eliminated on the website, but he "rose from the dead" in a coffin hours later. TJ continued to receive treatment and occasionally stepped out to be examined leading up to the finale.
- Compared to Season 1, which featured two contestants (Josie and Violetta) in its finale, Season 2 instead featured three contestants in its finale (Tayleigh, TJ and Shinji), with TJ and Shinji ultimately being the final two.
- Although Jet announced the season's finale as taking place on Day 41 (January 27), the proceedings eventually crossed over midnight into Day 42 (January 28). Tayleigh was eliminated in 3rd place on Day 41/January 27, while TJ was declared the winner over Shinji on Day 42/January 28.
