Season 3 of Fishtank was broadcast online in real-time from October 27 to December 7, 2024. An episodic version has yet to be released. It featured a larger house and more cast members than any season up to this point. This was the first season where the official grand prize was not awarded, although there was still some compensation. At the end of the 6 weeks, Burt was declared the winner over Binx during the finale in Las Vegas.

It will be followed by Season 4, which is expected in 2025.

Pre-Season[]

Fishtank S3 delayed to October 27, 2024

A mini-season titled Fishtank All-Stars Vampire Bloodgames was hosted in June/July 2024. The projected premiere date for Season 3 (August 2024) was announced during the reveal of Vampire Bloodgames. According to Jet and Sam, they were hoping for Season 3 to be more professional in a fun way, and attempting to eliminate much of the downtime.

Sam also stated that they would move away from Season 2's twist of having fans on the cast, and had instead recruited more unaware fish.

On August 26, 2024, during the first previously expected premiere date of season 3, the website was revealed to offer a streaming service that would allow people involved with Fishtank (contestants, freeloaders, and production) to stream to an audience on the website, with TTS and SFX enabled.

During the startup, Jet announced the official premiere date and additional information about Season 3 on his own livestream, stating "October 4th is our date" and "the goals for Season 3 are good audio, cool house, fun cast, and No Fans."[1] Jet said that having people "in on the joke" killed the show and the contestants need to be "ret*rded" and "oblivious", moving away from the consistent fan service that appeared in previous incarnations.

Overview[]

On October 27, 2024, the twelve contestants (fish) were welcomed into the Famous House and introduced to the flamboyantly gay director Ben and the host Jeremy Gold, or G. In order of entering the house, they were: Alexis, Mizzy, La'Ron, Burt, Ted, Simbal, Alex B, Binx, Smaack, Payton, Luke, and Ian. This is the first time that meticulous care was put into vetting the cast for knowledge of MDE, Sam Hyde, or Fishtank. For the first two weeks they didn't even know it was a live show. For the first time, all eliminations were done by cast vote unless the person quit or was ejected. In an effort to keep things balanced immunity from elimination became a reward for challenge wins. The TTS and sound effect donations were disguised as an innovative AI never-before seen AI model named, "computer". Computer observes and analyzes every moment captured from the security cameras and microphones then it uses that data to drive the show forward and create entertaining television. The house is much bigger this time around with three floors and more than 20 monitoring points.

The first two weeks, or act 1, was marked by constantly establishing the Famous House mythos and planting the fish within it. It became a reoccurring bit throughout the season for production to come upstairs with cameras, interrupt on-going discussions and actions, and have people rehash a semi-staged improvised dialogue based loosely on a real life event that happened moments earlier. They referred to this as "doing a scene", sometimes they would even bring scripts or prepared lines. Luke was production's man on the inside but he turned up the heat too fast when he got physical with Simbal and was eliminated first on Day 5 (October 31). Two days later Ian became the first person to be eliminated by vote of his peers and caused a flurry of emotions. Ted was the only undercover fan who tricked production and when that was exposed he was ejected by Sam while the other fish played truth or dare.

Day 13 (November 8) kicked off Act 2 when Smaack is given the choice between the red pill (staying) and the blue pill (leaving). She chose the blue pill and leaveswhen the truth was revealed to the remaining contestants and the Famous House facade was dropped. Alexis and La'Ron quit the day after the reveal, while other Fishtank activities later occurred, such as the return of challenges from seasons 1 and 2. Freeloaders were introduced, this saw the return of Frank Hassle and Nifty and the introduction of Jobe and Jeff. Ian came back for a brief period but was voted off the show again, this time by the audience. Alex B's wife came to cause a ruckus; this, combined with Frank's hassling, ultimately led to him quitting the show. Mizzy was voted off by the cast going into the fourth week.

Act 3 started on Day 28, the beginning of week four, and saw the return of Famous House. In the "Famous House 2.0" challenge, 15 new fish referred to as "Famous Stars" are brought to the house under false pretense to endure the same gaslight done at the beginning of the season. The final four (Binx, Burt, Payton, and Simbal), were tasked blending into the new group, surviving elimination votes, and covertly kicking out the newcomers. Breaking kayfabe and exposing themselves or each-other would result in ejection from the show. previously-eliminated contestant Luke, was also part of the Famous Stars cast. However, the theme was scrapped on Day 32, as all of the Famous Stars (save for Chris and Luke) were kicked out on wild and false pretenses, which culminated in several meltdowns. On Day 33 (November 29), a fake-out ending occurred, which also happened in the previous two seasons. The fish were moved out of the house and the livestream was down for approximately an hour. It came back to reveal the final three, as well as Chris and Luke, waiting in RV for a road-trip to an unknown destination.

Act 4 started on Day 36 (December 1) when Payton was suddenly eliminated for eating "elimination chocolate" and Mizzy returned as a freeloader. The next day the fish and freeloaders arrived in Las Vegas to kickoff the final week. The group went ghost-hunting, shot guns at a range, ventured into the tunnels with a homeless guide, interacted with strangers, and held the first ever Ball Brothers concert at Substance nightclub. Jeff was ejected from the show and abandoned in Vegas when drugs were discovered in his bag and he was accused of stealing Luke's belongings. On Day 40 (December 5) they were permitted to play at a closed table in a casino. Out of respect for Burt conquering a gambling addiction, Sam opted to run an audience poll on whether to choose red or black. Black was selected and the $50,000 prize was lost on one roulette spin. Binx was immediately eliminated for "making the bet in her head". On Day 41 (December 6) there was a long Q&A session with Sam and Jet. Although they were optimistic regarding the future, it was acknowledged that production lost their motivation, been totally demoralized, and that the show had suffered as a result.

On the final day they dropped people off until only production and Burt remained on the RV. They left Binx on a street corner with homeless people, Mizzy on the scale outside the Heart Attack Grill, and Luke at the bus station. Then they set off driving to an unknown location as Burt reflected on his experience on Fishtank and considered his future and fame. He expressed a desire to build a new career in entertainment and to get treatment for his sex addiction. The RV is being driven with increasing recklessness, rattling violently, clanging, and throwing all its contents around. They come to an abrupt stop. Everybody exits the RV and they are revealed to be in the middle of the desert. Burt stopped to take a piss and was officially declared the winner of season 3. Jason hands him a giant novelty check. With a marker he writes in "B.U.R.T." as the payee and changes the amount from $50,000 to zero dollars. The cameras hold on Burt for a moment before all production get in their vehicles and drive away without Burt.

Famous Stars[]

On Day 29 (November 24), a cast of new fish, referred to as "Famous Stars," entered Famous House 2.0, again under the assumption that the show was called Famous House and unaware of the events of Famous House 1.0/Fishtank season 3. They intermingled with the final four fish from the original cast (Binx, Burt, Payton, and Simbal), who essentially acted as plants under the threat of elimination for breaking the kayfabe. This was intended as a two-week long final challenge.

The Famous Stars comprised of 12 new fish, one being the original plant (Luke) and another who was ejected shortly after entering (Braden). Additionally Chris, a reoccurring freeloader from every prior season, returned as the 15th Famous Star on Day 30 (November 25).

Only one elimination vote took place during Famous House 2.0 in which one of the final four, Simbal, was voted out.

On Day 32, Famous House 2.0 was effectively scrapped as production moved to kick out the remaining stars using wild fake stories. This culminated in several back-to-back meltdowns. Kawan was the last Famous Star to be ejected, brought the challenge to its end. Chris and Luke remained in the house as a freeloaders alongside the final three (Binx, Payton, and Burt).

Trivia[]

  • Stickermule was a sponsor and hosted some exclusive merch.
  • The age of the contestants this season was much older than in previous seasons, most of them being in their late twenties to thirties, bar Payton, who was 19 at the start.
  • Ian's card on the website was inexplicably changed to say Freeloader rather than Contestant for most of the day before his elimination.
  • Season 3 had an official restream on YouTube that followed the Director Mode from the Fishtank website.
