Shinji was the first contestant to enter the house on day 1, and the earliest moments of the season involved him exploring the house. He made early connections with Cole and Jimmy. During the first night, Goldstriker played matchmaker between Shinji and Megan. Shinji won the Story Time challenge on day 2, as well as the Fashion Show challenge's spectator vote. On day 5, it was revealed that Shinji, alongside JC, was one of the only people in the house who were not fans of MDE.
Over his time in the house, Shinji's history in Japanese pornography and interests in VR became known, and he was frequently asked to tell stories about his experiences. On day 20, Shinji took an HIV test as part of a bit. The test appeared to come back positive, though the test was actually invalid.
